Federal Court Grants Preliminary Injunction to Stop iCraveTV's Theft of Film and TV Programs
WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 8, 2000 - A federal judge in Pittsburgh today granted a preliminary injunction barring Internet site iCraveTV and its owner William R. Craig from illegally transmitting unauthorized performances of U.S. copyrighted films and television programs.

The ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Donald Ziegler follows his Jan. 28 imposition of a temporary restraining order against iCraveTV, in response to complaints filed by 10 motion picture and three broadcasting companies, the National Basketball Association and the National Football League. The complaints charge that iCraveTV engaged in theft through copyright infringement, trademark infringement and unfair competition.

Jack Valenti, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Motion Picture Association of America heralded today's ruling: "Today's ruling is another significant legal milestone in our battle to stop cybertheft wherever it occurs. This case is being watched closely in the U.S. and around the world because it is fundamentally about protecting intellectual property everywhere. Legitimate consumers, creative artists and copyright holders everywhere should join us in applauding this ruling."
